STOCKTON, Calif. – Portland baseball outfielders Jake Holcroft and Evan Scavotto were each named to the All-WCC Tournament Team. They are the first Pilots to ever earn the honor.
Holcroft started in the leadoff spot in each of Portland's three tournament games, batting .400 at 6-for-15 with a double. His six hits were tied with Ben Patacsil for the most on the team. It's yet another honor for Holcroft, who was named All-WCC First Team earlier this week. He finished the season batting .343 with a team-high 15 doubles and 42 runs. His .343 average is good for third in the WCC.
Scavotto batted .417 with two home runs and six RBI's. His home run and RBI totals both tied him for third in the tournament. He blasted both of those home runs in the second game of the tournament against Loyola Marymount. He was 2-for-5 from the plate with five home runs. He is just the second Pilot to hit two home runs in a game this year. He finishes the year batting .296 across 38 games.
The Pilots finished the year with a 32-23 record overall and a 17-10 record in WCC play. That overall record is the best since 2010 and marks just the fourth time the Pilots have ever gotten 30 wins or more in a year. Their 17 conference wins are the most ever in WCC play for the program. Their appearance in the WCC Tournament was their first ever.
