PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Volleyball Head Coach Megan Burton has announced the signing of four recruits: Una Rajkovic, Larkin Chock, Jordan Bardouche and Griselda Memia. Rajkovic, Chock and Bardouche all join the Pilots as freshman with four years of eligibility while Memia joins as a transfer from American University with three years remaining.
Una Rajkovic – Belgrade, Serbia – 6'3" – MB
Rajckovic brings an international flavor to the Pilots, coming over from Belgrade, Serbia as a middle blocker. She played for the highly competitive OK Beograd from 2017-22, medaling in several tournaments. Beograd won nine medals (five bronze, one silver, three gold) at the Belgrade Tournament (U16, U18 and U20 levels) during that span and four medals (three bronze, one silver) at the National Tournament (U16, U18 and U20 levels). Rajckovic also was on the national team roster for Serbia in 2018 and 2019 and played for the regional team in Belgrade, with Belgrade taking second at the International Tournament in 2021.
"We are so excited to welcome Una to our UP squad," Portland head coach Megan Burton said. "We knew from our first conversation that Una would be a fantastic fit for our program. She is driven and ready to put in the work it takes to be great. Una will provide more international training experience and provide some great physicality for us in the middle position with her height and speed."
Larkin Chock – Belmont, Calif. – 5'6" – L/DS
Chock, a libero/defensive specialist from Belmont, Calif., joins the Pilots after a stellar high school and club career. At Carlmot High School, Chock was selected to the 2021 Peninsula Bay First Team and was named her team's MVP for the 2021 season. She has played for several elite volleyball clubs since 2015, most recently playing with Encore Volleyball Club from 2020-22. In 2019, Chock and the SFElite Volleyball Club earned an invite to the Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC).
"Larkin is just awesome," Burton said. "She is the type of player every coach wants in their gym – a hard worker who's passionate about the sport and a great teammate. Larkin will fit in well with our defensive mentality. She plays the game with grit, heart and a competitive spirit. We can't wait to get her in the gym with us!"
Jordan Bardouche – Honolulu, Hawai'i – 5'5" – S/OH/L
Bardouche joins the Pilots from Honolulu, Hawai'I, playing several positions as a setter, outside hitter and a libero. Graduating from Roosevelt High School in Hawaii, Bardouche has played with several club teams over the years. She spent seven years with Ka Ulukoa most recently, but also played for Lanikai for two year, O'Ahu Volleyball Club for half a year, and then Koa Kamali'I Wahine and Hana Hou for two years each.
"We welcome another solid player and great person to the Bluff with Jordan," Burton said. "She grew up around the game in Hawaii and will bring a high volleyball IQ to our gym. Jordan is a jack of all trades and will be able to provide depth in multiple positions. She has a 'get down to business' mentality and work ethic. She will fit in well with our hardworking squad."
Griselda Memia – Tirana, Albania – 6'5" – MB/OH
Finally, Memia joins the Pilots as a transfer from American University. Memia spent two years with the Eagles, signing with the school after playing with SK Tirana in her native Albania. Playing both as a middle blocker and an outside hitter, Memia also has experience with Albania's youth and junior national teams.
"I am very excited about Griselda joining the Pilots," Burton said. "She transfers in with high-level college training experience and a winning mentality. I was very impressed with Griselda's passion for the game and her desire to continue to learn and get better. She will provide some great physicality for us in the middle with her 6-5 frame. She is an amazing person and great teammate that fit in immediately with our team culture. She's got a bright future here on The Bluff."
The following recruits bring depth to an already stellar 2022 class. The Pilots added five signees back in February: Lia Hawken, Talyn Jackson, Maui Robins, Elin Larsson and Lucia Busso. Hawken and Jackson each played with the Pilots' beach team this spring. Larsson also played with the Swedish national team this summer.
