PORTLAND, Ore. – For the first time this season, Sebastian Hernandez was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week. He is the third Pilot to make the team this season.
Hernandez had a stellar week along the back line for the Pilots last week, starting at centerback in both of Portland's win over Pac-12 opponents. He earned an assist in Portland's 2-0 win over the California Golden Bears – Portland's fifth shutout this year – and scored the game-winning goal for the Pilots over the Oregon State Beavers. It was the first goal of Hernandez's Pilot career.
The Pilots are 8-3 overall this season and are one of the most explosive teams in the country. They lead the WCC in 10 different categories and nationally rank third in scoring offense (2.73) and assists per game (3.09), sixth in total goals (30), points (94) and assists (34) and seventh in goal differential (20). Their 30 goals are the most by a Pilot team through 11 matches since 1999 and they currently hold the longest home unbeaten streak in the nation at 25 matches. It's also the longest in program history.
Portland resumes WCC play this Saturday, Oct. 21 against the San Diego Toreros. Kickoff for the match is set for 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
