Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. – Portland finished with three of the four singles qualifiers from ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on Sunday. Maxim Groysman, Nikola Keremedchiev and Nicolas Ocana each reached the semifinals, securing a place at the ITA Northwest Super Regionals at Stanford on Oct. 20-22.

Groysman was the first to qualify with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win against Gonzaga's Gus Krauel. Groysman didn't drop a set in his three-match run to qualifying.

In an all-Pilot matchup, Keremedchiev defeated graduate transfer Luka Vukovic 6-3, 6-4 to punch his ticket.

Ocana then capped an impressive day with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 win against Oregon's Matthew Burton.

The trio will join Pilot senior Oscar Brown in the ITA Super Regional singles draw.

"We had a great final day and singles in Seattle," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "Max continued with a great tournament, rolling through the qualifying round. Nikola beat Luka in an all UP matchup and then Ocana battled a very good Oregon player to squeak one out. There was a lot on the line today because the winner of these matches got to go to the Super Regional in Stanford in two weeks. I really enjoyed watching them compete under that pressure today and do it well. We know we have a lot of work to do in doubles. Even though we were pretty successful in singles, we also got a lot of feedback this weekend on how we can get better."

Vukovic and Ocana reached the doubles semifinals, but were knocked out by the Portland State tandem of Jan Semerak and Andrea Brignacca in straight sets.

The Pilots will now prepare for the ITA Northwest Super Regional at Stanford on Oct. 20-22.
