PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland women's tennis announced on Thursday that
Lexie Flores (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King Jr. HS) and
Isabella Marquart (Pewaukee, Wisc./Arrowhead HS) have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Pilots in the Fall of 2024.
Flores is the three-time Inland Empire Big VIII Player of the Year and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Round of 16 in singles last spring. She has a current World Tennis Number (WTN) rating of 18.4 and is a four-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net.
"We are very excited to welcome Lexie to the Pilot family," Portland head coach Filip Zivkovic said. "Lexie is an incredible addition to our program. Her work ethic and drive will allow her to flourish in our environment. Lexie's commitment to improvement has shown in her recent results. Lexie is 5-0 against five-star recruits since September, which is a testimony to her dedication to the sport and continued growth as a player. Personally, Lexie is one of the kindest people I have had a pleasure of recruiting and she will be an incredible addition to UP on the court, in the classroom and as a member of our campus community."
Marquart currently has a WTN rating of 19.0 and is a three-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net. An accomplished junior player, Marquart reached as high as No. 20 in the nation in 2021.
"Bella is a player that will have big impact on our program over the next four years," Zivkovic said. "Bella will bring a wealth of experience to our team as she has competed on the highest stages of National and International events. As much as we look forward to seeing Bella compete as a Pilot, we are also excited for the person we have recruited as Bella understands the importance of our team culture and will contribute greatly towards continued growth of our program."
Portland is currently preparing for the 2024 spring dual season which begins on Friday, Jan. 19 at Seattle U. The Pilots have four players on the current roster in their final year of eligibility. Portland finished the 2023 season with a 10-9 overall record.
