SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland Baseball infielder Evan Scavotto has been named the WCC Player of the Week. It is the first time Scavotto has earned the honor and the second week in a row a Pilot has won the award.
Scavotto was honored after dominating at the plate for the Pilots. He batted .571 with two home runs, six total extra-base hits and 11 RBI's over the last week. He posted 10 RBI's over the weekend in Portland's three-game series against the Pacific Tigers, the most of any Pilot over three games this season. He had seven RBI's in the series opener on Friday, the most of any Pilot this season and the most by any Pilot since 2019.
The Pilots are the top team in the WCC, sitting at 16-7 overall and 6-0 in WCC play. Their perfect conference start through two weekends marks the first time in program history they've ever started 6-0. They are the only team in the conference still undefeated in conference play. This is the quickest the Pilots have also reached 16 wins since 2019. They lead the WCC in batting average (.313), doubles (59), doubles per game (2.57), total hits (254), on-base percentage (.409), total runs (185), runs per game (8.0) and slugging percentage (.476).
Portland is back in action tomorrow against the Washington Huskies. First pitch at Husky Ballpark in Seattle is set for 4 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
