PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's tennis has signed Tannor Binder (Beaverton, Ore./Beaverton HS) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Aaron Gross announced on Wednesday. Binder will join the Pilots as a freshman next fall.
Binder is the top-ranked player in the class of 2023 in the state of Oregon and No. 2 player in the Northwest Region according to TennisRecruiting.net.
"We are really happy to have Tannor joining us next season," Gross said. "He comes from a great tennis family and is the highest rated high school senior coming out of Oregon this year. His tennis has progressed very steadily in the last few years even though he hasn't had a lot of opportunities outside of the Pacific Northwest section. I am super excited about Tannor's potential. When he is in every day, playing with college players and playing a full schedule of tough matches, I think the sky could be the limit. Plus, he's a very good guy and has already connected with some of our players in the short period of time that we have been recruiting him. I think Tannor will be a great fit at UP."
Binder joins Stefan Skobelev as the second member of Portland's 2023 recruiting class. The Pilots are currently 7-6 overall and 1-1 in West Coast Conference play. The team heads to the Bay Area to face Santa Clara on Friday and San Francisco on Saturday.
