KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Portland Pilots had one player earn All-West Region honors on Tuesday, with Nick Fernandez making the second team. This is the third year in a row Fernandez has made the team.
Fernandez garners recognition after a stellar year that saw him post four goals and four assists for the Pilots in the midfield. His four goals on the season were a career high, and three of those goals were game-winners, good for third in the conference. Fernandez was named to the All-WCC First Team earlier this year, becoming the first Pilot since 2018 to make the first team three times.
Earlier today, Fernandez was announced as well as one of 44 invitees to the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase, a closed-door scouting event for the top players in college soccer that runs from Dec. 11 through Dec. 14.
The Pilots finished the season at 7-4-7 overall and 4-0-4 in WCC play, ending the year on a 10-game unbeaten streak that was the longest on the West Coast and the third longest in the country. They earned four wins over teams that finished in the top 35 in RPI this season as well.
