LEXINGTON, Ky. – Portland Pilots middle blocker Taina Kaauwai earned AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention on Tuesday in the Northwest Region. She is the first Pilot in program history to earn AVCA All-Region recognition.
Kaauwai was stellar for the Pilots this season, breaking out in the middle for a stellar year offensively and defensively. She led the conference in hitting percentage this year at .382 and ranked 34
th nationally in the category. She was also 13
th in total blocks (114) and 15
th in blocks per set (1.07). Kauuwai became the first Pilot since 2017 to earn All-WCC First Team honors earlier this year.
The Pilots finished the year with their highest win total since the 2018 season. The Pilots had three players earn All-WCC honors, with Kaauwai, Havannah Hoeft and Maui Robins all earning recognition.
