PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots pitcher Carter Gaston was named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I West All-Region Second Team. He is the third Pilot in the last three years to earn all-region honors in the last three years and the third since 1992.
Gaston was electric on the mound for the Pilots this year. He was named the WCC Pitcher of the Year – the second Pilot to win the award in the last three seasons – and was an All-WCC First Team selection as well. Gaston posted an 11-2 record – a program record for the most wins in a single season – as well as an ERA of 3.01 in 80.2 innings pitched. He led the WCC in both wins and ERA, with his win total ranking fifth nationally. Conference-wise, he was also fourth in WHIP (1.18) and fifth in walks allowed per nine innings (2.45).
It was an incredible year for the Pilots, who went 37-19 overall and 19-5 in WCC play. Their 37 wins were the most they've posted in a single season and their 19 wins are the most they've ever had in WCC play and the most across any conference they've played in since 1980. They made the 2024 WCC Tournament Championship this year, advancing to the championship game for the second season in a row.
