DALLAS, Texas – Portland Pilots ace Nick Brink was named a NCBWA All-American on Wednesday, making the second team. Brink is just the 19
th Pilot ever to earn All-American honors and the 12
th to earn non-freshman All-American honors.
Few pitchers were as dominant on the mound as Brink this season. He posted a 10-4 record with a 3.63 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 99.2 innings. His strikeout total led the conference and ranked sixth nationally, and his total was the second most a Pilot pitcher has ever posted in a single season.
On top of that, Brink led the WCC in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.65), strikeouts per nine innings (11.74), WHIP (1.08) and walks allowed per nine innings (2.08). Brink was the first Pilot since 2015 to throw multiple complete games in a single season as well and the only WCC pitcher to do so. Brink earned several other conference and regional honors on top of all-American, being named to the All-WCC First Team, the WCC All-Academic Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team.
It was an incredible year for the Pilots, who went 37-19 overall and 19-5 in WCC play. Their 37 wins were the most they've posted in a single season and their 19 wins are the most they've ever had in WCC play and the most across any conference they've played in since 1980. They made the 2024 WCC Tournament Championship this year, advancing to the championship game for the second season in a row.
