THIS WEEK
• The Pilots will travel to Irvine, Calif. for their second tournament of the 2024 season, the UCI/adidas Invitational.
• Portland is set for three matches, facing Idaho State, Bradley and the host UC Irvine. Portland opens against the Idaho State Bengals on Thursday, Sep. 5 at 6 p.m., then faces the Bradley Braves on Friday, Sep. 6 at 3 p.m. and closes out the tournament against UC Irvine on Saturday, Sep. 7 at 1:30 p.m.

LAST WEEK
• The Pilots started the season strong with a 3-0 record for the second time in two years.
• Maui Robins was named the Credit Union One WCC Offensive Player of the Week.
• Maui Robins and Taina Kaauwai were named to the 2024 Bash at the Beach All-Tournament Team, with Robins earning MVP honors.
• Robins leads the team with 65.5 points, 53 kills, and eight service aces. She also tops the WCC in points and service aces, while ranking second in kills.
• Kaauwai leads the team in blocks (14) and is second in kills (30) and points (41.5). She ranks first in the WCC in hitting percentage (.429) and third in for blocks (14).
• Redshirt freshman Havannah Hoeft recorded a match-high 61 assists on Friday, Aug. 30 against Bethune-Cookman, the most by a Pilot in a single match since 2018. She totaled 144 assists to lead the WCC over the weekend.
• Freshman Tinoa Woodward-Hart achieved a match-high 19 digs on Friday, Aug. 30 against Bethune-Cookman, accumulating 43 digs over the weekend, placing her third in the WCC.
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Megan Burton enters her fifth year as the head coach of the Pilots volleyball program, with assistant coaches Dylan Hamilton, Kyle Homeyer and Remi Pourrat also returning for the 2024 season.
• The Pilots also bring back 12 letter winners from the fall 2023 season.
• The program welcomes five true freshmen to The Bluff this fall in Sydney Cazimero, Amiyah Eason, Maelle Corbach, Tinoa Woodward-Hart, and Alana Villela.
• Portland will be looking to captains Maui Robins and Lia Hawken to lead the team to new heights in the 2024 season.
• Robins was named to 2023 All-WCC Second Team and earned a spot on the 2024 All-WCC Preseason team, spearheaded by her outstanding performances last year. Robins led the conference in services aces (39), second in kills (363) and points (422.5).
• Hawken plays a crucial front-line role, ranking among the top for the Pilots in kills, points, and blocks.
• Returning players Taina Kaauwai and Elin Larsson will remain key contributors to the Pilots' lineup. Both earned 2023 All-WCC honors, with Kaauwai securing a spot on the Freshman Team and Larsson receiving honorable mention.
• The Pilots led the WCC in the 2023 season in service aces (197).
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
• Idaho State began their 2024 season with a 2-1 record in their home tournament. Senior Jamie Streit led the Bengals' offense and was named All-Tournament MVP.
• Bradley started the 2024 season with a 1-2 record. Junior Iva Popovic led the Braves' offense with 38 kills so far this season.
• UC Irvine opened the 2024 season with a 2-1 record. Graduate Student Ella Gardiner led the Anteaters with 30 kills so far.
