SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Portland's Havannah Hoeft the Credit Union One WCC Freshman of the Week for Week 2 of the 2024 season. This is the second Conference weekly award this season for the Pilots.
Hoeft played a significant role in supporting the Pilots' offense with standout performances throughout the UCI/adidas Invitational. She notched a double-double in every match, starting on Thursday, Sept. 5, with 50 assists and 12 digs against Idaho State. She wrapped up the weekend against UC Irvine with 43 assists and 10 digs. Across the tournament, Hoeft accumulated 120 assists, 35 digs, 8 kills, and an impressive .727 hitting percentage.
Hoeft now leads the team and tops the WCC with 264 assists. Hoeft is the third Pilot since 2019 to record at least 40 assists in four matches during a single season. Last season, the Pilots only had a player reach at least 40 assists twice.
The Pilots, off to an impressive 5-1 start to the season, will next face Seattle University at home on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m. in the Chiles Center, before heading north for a rematch with the Redhawks on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. For more coverage and info, visit PortlandPilots.com.
