SAN MATEO, Calif. – Alexis Mark earned her first WCC Player of the Week honor of season on Monday, garnering the honor after a stellar week for Portland. She is the third Pilot to win honors this season.
Mark averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest over two games for Portland, highlighted by a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in a comeback win against Santa Clara. 15 of those points against the Broncos came in the second half, with her performance putting the Pilots in a tie for first in the WCC. She has six double-doubles on the year, ranking fourth in the conference in the category. With her 23 points, she now has over 1,500 points for her career.
Mark is averaging 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for Portland, leading the team in rebounding. She's one of just two players in all of NCAA Division I to average at least 11.5 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals per contest this year.
The Pilots are 26-3 after this past weekend and 15-3 against WCC opponents. It's their best overall record since the 1996-97 season and their 15 WCC wins matches their highest conference win total in program history. They broke a program record for home wins in a season this past weekend with 15 wins. They currently are tied for first place in the conference with two games to play.
Next up, the Pilots head down to San Francisco to take on the San Francisco Dons at the Hilltop. The two teams play on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
