SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland women's tennis standouts Sally Pethybridge and Alaia Rubio Perez earned recognition as the 2025 West Coast Conference honors were announced on Tuesday by the league office. Pethybridge was a second team singles pick, while Rubio Perez earned honorable mention honors. The duo was also named All-WCC second team in doubles.
It marks the second consecutive season that Pethybridge was recognized in both singles and doubles. She was a second team singles pick in 2024 and was first team in doubles with partner Iva Zelic. A senior captain this season, Pethybridge anchored the top of the lineup in both singles and doubles. She finished with six dual singles wins including a 4-3 mark against WCC opposition at the No. 1 position.
Rubio Perez, a junior from London, England, was 8-8 in dual singles at primarily the No. 2 spot and picked up three league wins.
The doubles tandem of Pethybridge and Rubio Perez went 17-7 overall, 11-3 in dual matches and 4-1 against WCC competition. Their biggest win came on the road against Pepperdine's ranked tandem of Anastasiia Grechkina and Alexia Harmon by a 6-2 margin.
Portland will now focus on this week's
WCC Championships scheduled for April 24-26 at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. The Pilots are the No. 6 seed and take on No. 54 Washington State on Thursday at 10 a.m. The winner moves on to face San Diego in Friday's semifinals.
