PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Men's Soccer fans will have their first chance to see the team on Sunday, Aug. 10 when they host the Oregon State Beavers for an exhibition at Merlo Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. with tickets for the match available at PortlandPilots.com/Tickets.
The Pilots are coming off a season that saw them finish 7-4-7 and 4-0-4 in WCC play. They finished the year on a 10-game unbeaten streak that was the longest on the West Coast. Four of the Pilots' wins came against team in the top 35 in RPI. The Pilots return three of their six All-WCC honorees from last season, with Joe Highfield (First Team), Miguel-Angel Hernandez (Second Team) and Diego Rosas (Honorable Mention) all making their return to the pitch.
The Beavers were one of two WCC teams to make the NCAA Tournament last year after going 10-5-3 overall and 5-2-1 against conference opponents. They've made the tournament each of the last five seasons and six of the last seven years, including a College Cup run in 2023. The Pilots, however, beat the Beavers last season 3-2 at Merlo Field in the Timber Cup.
The Pilots will play one more home exhibition contest against the Washington Huskies on Friday, Aug. 15, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. They open the regular season against the Central Arkansas Bears on Friday, Aug. 22 here at Merlo Field. Kickoff for that match is also set for 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
