SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the seventh straight week, Portland Pilots Men's Soccer had a player earn WCC Player of the Week honors, with Joe Highfield winning Offensive Player of the Week. It's the first time he's won the award this season.
Highfield was stellar this past weekend for the Pilots, scoring two goals and adding two assists. It's the third brace he's had this season and the second time he's tallied two assists in a game. One of his assists came on the game-winning goal.
Highfield now has 10 goals and 11 assists overall for 31 points, the most points by any Pilot since Brandon Cambridge in 2022. He's the first Pilot since Jim Clarke in 1993 to have at least 10 goals and 10 assists in the same season. He has seven goals and eight assists in WCC play alone, good for second in the conference in both categories.
Portland continues to dominate conference play. Ranked 12th in the nation, the Pilots are 10-3-2 on the year and 7-0-0 in WCC play, breaking their program record already for WCC wins in a season. Their 29 goals in WCC play broke the WCC record for goals in conference play. Portland's nine wins in a row are a program best since 1988 and is also the second longest winning streak in the country.
The Pilots will be back in action this Friday, Nov. 6 against the San Francisco Dons. The two teams kickoff in San Francisco at 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
