CHULA VISTA, Calif. – One regatta remains before the WCC Championships for Portland Pilots Rowing, with the Pilots set to row in Chula Vista at the Triton Invite. The Invite is set for this weekend, running from Apr. 25-26.
Racing begins on Saturday, with dual races for the Pilots. The varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four all racing in the morning from 8:20 a.m. to 8:50 a.m., going against the hosts, the UC San Diego Tritons. Later that evening they'll go head-to-head against the Sacramento State Hornets, following the same order starting at 4:10 p.m. and running until 4:40 p.m.
Portland finishes their races Sunday morning, taking on the Saint Mary's Gaels and the San Diego Toreros. Racing starts at 9:10 a.m., following the same format as Saturday and ending with the second varsity four race at 9:40 a.m.
The Pilots most recently rowed at the Portland Invite, their lone home meet of the season, and dominated the competition, earning sweeps in all races. It was the second time this season they've swept all varsity races in a meet, having done so at the Puget Sound Invite earlier this year.
