Men's Soccer Ranked Third in Latest United Soccer Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Portland Pilots Men's Soccer moved to third in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, moving up three spots from their preseason ranking.
 
The Pilots moved up in the rankings following their gritty draw against the California Golden Bears to open the season. The Pilots created numerous opportunities against the Golden Bears to record their 17th straight unbeaten result in home regular season contests. It was the 10th highest attended regular season game in 25 years, with 3,234 fans in attendance.
 
Entering the year, the Pilots were ranked sixth in the nation by United Soccer Coaches, their highest preseason ranking in any poll since 1996. Their ranking of fourth in the TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 entering the year was the highest in any preseason poll since 1989. The Pilots have been ranked in the top 10 every week of the United Soccer Coaches poll dating back to September of last year.
 
The Pilots hit the road with a pair of challenging contests against the No. 11 Washington Huskies and the Princeton Tigers, who were receiving votes in the Top 25. They'll play the Huskies on Thursday, Aug. 27 and the Tigers on Monday, Aug. 31. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
