PORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland women’s tennis team swept the visiting Linfield Wildcats 7-0 Friday morning at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. It marked the second straight win for the Pilots (2-3), while the Wildcats dropped their season-opener.
"Every opportunity to compete and improve on our goals is meaningful and important for us,” Portland head coach Susie Campbell-Gross said. “Each player is concentrating on areas of their game they can solidify and we want to continue striving to be better with each match."
Portland swept the doubles and singles points, dropping just three games in doubles and six total games in singles. Freshman Tessa Mini played her first dual match of the spring season at No. 6 singles and won 6-1, 6-1. Stephanie Fuchs and Jenna Tanzer each won 6-0, 6-0 in singles action for the Pilots.
Portland will return home to the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. to host crosstown rival Portland State.
