VALLEJO, Calif. --- Portland junior Paige Rachor tied for 12th place overall to lead the Pilots at the West Coast Conference Championships, which concluded at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course on Tuesday. Rachor, who shot a 236 on the par 72 course, garnered All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight year.
Pepperdine, which placed all five of its golfers in the top 10, easily takes home the team title for the second straight year. The Waves combined for a 905, which was 18 strokes better than San Francisco (923). Santa Clara, which shot a 941, finished third at the three-round, 54-hole tournament.
The Pilots placed fifth with a 981.
Pepperdine’s Jayvie Agojo finished well ahead of the field to claim medalist honors. Her five-over par 221 (72-74-75) was seven strokes better than a trio of golfers in second place. Agojo’s teammate Kaitlin Drolson, Gonzaga’s Rachel Sibbit and Santa Clara’s Miki Ueoka all shot a 12-over 228 to tie for second.
Rachor had per round totals of 76, 81 and 79 to lead the Pilots. Senior Taryn Kuida caps her UP career with a 16th-place showing. Kuida, who shot a team-low 74 during Monday’s second round, finished with a 239 (82-74-83). Behind Kuida came sophomore Lisa Okazaki (251), freshman McKennon O’Rourke (260) and sophomore Bridget Gleason (261).
