SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland Pilots women’s tennis teammates Lacey Pflibsen and Megan Sporndli have garnered All-West Coast Conference Second Team honors, announced the league on Wednesday. Pflibsen earned her first-ever all-conference award as a singles player. Pflibsen also teamed up with Sporndli to earn the second team selection as a doubles pair.
Pflibsen went 5-2 at the No. 1 singles spot and 12-7 on the season. The sophomore, who hails from Vista, Calif., recorded a notable win over No. 55 Oregon. She went 1-1 against conference opponents at the WCC Championships this past weekend.
The Portland pair of Pflibsen and Sporndli earned their selection on the strength of a 5-2 overall record at the No. 1 position. They went 2-1 at the WCC Championships.
Sporndli earned All-WCC Honorable Mention in singles. This is the second straight year with the All-WCC nod for Sporndli, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa. She earned second team honors in both singles and doubles in 2008.
Coach Susie Campbell-Gross’ squad finished the regular season with an 8-12 overall record and a sixth-place at the WCC Championship.
