COMPLETE RESULTS
PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots women’s rowing team raced three boats at the 2013 Windermere Cup, which took place on Saturday on Lake Washington. The Windermere Cup is held as part of the celebration of Seattle's Opening Day of Boating Season.
More than 800 rowers competed at this prestigious event, which culminated with the women's and men's Windermere Cup races.
In Portland’s first event, the varsity four covered the course in a time of 8:08.8 to finish behind a pair of crews from Washington. In the open eight, the Pilots were second to the University of British Columbia with a time of 7:22.7. Portland finished ahead of two boats from UW.
In the race for the Erickson Cascade Cup, the Washington eight finished well ahead of the field, which included the Pilots (7:19.6). The Erickson Cascade Cup also featured 17th-ranked Cornell and Dartmouth. The Huskies are currently ranked fourth in the nation.
The Windermere Cup is the second to last event of the year for the Pilots, who next head to the West Coast Conference Championships on May 18. The WCC’s will take place at Lake Natoma, Calif.
