Women's ScheduleGRESHAM, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots competed in the Rose City Preview on a Saturday March 21 against a variety of Northwest schools. Korey Thieleke continued his 400 meter success this outdoor season as he placed second with a time of 48.02.
"Many of our athletes were doing their first outdoor meet of the year and looked really good," said women's cross country head coach Ian Solof. "We are right where we need to be at this point in the year and I look forward to the big meets next month."
On the women's side, Marci Witczak placed 4
th in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:41.44. The team of Melissa Baller, Taryn Rawlings, Katherine Maus, and Lorea Ibarzabal finished the 4x400 with a time of 3:56.52 claiming third place. In her first track meet of the season, dual sport student-athlete Kaylie Van Loo threw the javelin 40.65 meters earning her third place.
Portland showed strong in the men's 3000 meter with three Pilots finishing in the top four. Justin Rocereto, Ben Forsee, and Sean O'Hollearn went second, third, and fourth respectively, with Rocereto crossing the line in 8:33.18.
The Portland Pilots will continue the outdoor season next weekend in Salem, Ore. at the Willamette Invitational.
