VANCOUVER LAKE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots had a solid day at Portland's Easter Egg Race on a perfect Saturday morning on Vancouver Lake. The Pilots raced eight boats in six different events.
 
The varsity eight began the day by finishing on top of a field that also included Seattle, Puget Sound, Oregon and Pacific. The Pilots' time of 7:09.9 was well ahead of second-place Seattle. The Pilots also raced a second eight in the event, which covered the 2000 meter course in time of 7:35.7.
 
The Redhawks claimed first place in the novice/third eight race, and Oregon's 'A' crew won the varsity four race. Portland's four posted a time of 8:32.2, good for second place, while the Pilot novice four was best of the novices with a time of 9:05.4.
 
The Pilots next travel to San Diego, Calif., for the two-day San Diego Crew Classic next weekend.
