LARKSPUR, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team was back in the sand today at the University of San Francisco Invitational at Piper Park. San Francisco and San Jose State both took their match over the Pilots.

Portland (0-3) took on San Francisco (5-0) in the first match of the day. The Dons took all five duals to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Pilots faced San Jose State (2-3) shortly after the completion of the first match. The Spartan pair of Julia Golbeck and Julie Sam topped Brittney Markwith and Katie Sullivan 2-0. In the next dual, Pilots Katie Barker and Djurdjina Milovic defeated Giulia Gavio and Luiza Andrade with set scores of 21-17, 13-21, and 15-13. This goes down in school history as the first dual win by any Pilot.

With the match tied at 1-1, the final three duals fell in favor of San Jose State.

The Pilots will wrap up their California tour with a match against Santa Clara on Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
