PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots fell short 2-3 to Corban in the final home match of the season.

The match opened with a pair of back-and-forth battles. On court two, Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson came out strong, taking the first set in extra points, but ultimately fell in three (21-23, 21-14, 15-10). Meanwhile in flight four, Valerie Bruk and Taylor Helle pushed their match to the wire, winning the second set before being edged out 15-13 in the third (21-18, 20-22, 15-13).

The Pilots got on the board with a commanding win with the 1s, as Emily Wood and Annika Stammberger cruised past Corban's top pair, 21-11, 21-16. Portland struck again in the 3s, where Elizabeth Ortiz and Elena Bullemer battled through an intense first set and pulled away in the second, winning 27-25, 25-15.

With the match tied at 2-2, Michela Strati and Hannah Debban took the first set 23-21, but Corban responded and managed to close out the match 21-17, 15-8.

The Pilots will conclude their season next week at the WCC Championships, set for April 24–25 at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, Calif.
