Box Score Corvallis, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots completed the final day of the Oregon State Tournament with a sweep over Utah State on Saturday afternoon at Gill Coliseum. The Pilots dominated the Aggies 3-0, with a come-from-behind win in the third set.
The Pilots put together two solid opening sets with 25-19 and 25-17 wins. Katie Sullivan and Hannah Troutman led the Pilots in points during the first set. Troutman went on an impressive four-for-four kill streak, putting the Pilots ahead 7-2. Sullivan demonstrated an exceptional set with a hit percentage of .714. Collectively the Pilots put together a total of 17 kills.
The second set consisted of a good collective showing from the Pilots. Sullivan, Troutman, Brittney Markwith, and Maddy Mandon all put together several kills to clinch a 25-17 win. The Pilots as a team had a total hit percentage of .421, besting their other set kill percentages.
Utah State pulled ahead quickly in the third set to force the Pilots to fight for a comeback win. Capitalizing on Utah errors, the Pilots claimed the win 25-21 and the 3-0-match sweep.
Freshman Cali Thompson registered a total of 38 assists and Sullivan posted a total match hit percentage of .692 and 10 kills. Troutman claimed a match high of 11 kills. The Pilots put together 42 kills total.
The Pilots finish 2-1 in the OSU Tournament and will head to Fresno State to play DePaul University next Friday at 12:30 p.m.
