PORTLAND, Ore. --- University of Portland women's rowing assistant coach Plamen Petrov is being honored with the Portland Police Bureau's Life Saving Award at a ceremony on Thursday afternoon. The honor is given by the Police Bureau to any bureau or community member who saved the life of another person.
Recently Pretrov came to the aid of a local rower who had a heart attack while in his boat. Petrov was able to bring the rower, who had fallen into the river while still attached to his boat, inside his launch, where he performed CPR until paramedics could arrive.
The ceremony is being held at the City Bible Church, which is located at 9200 N. East Fremont St. in Portland, and it scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.
