SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland Pilots senior point guard Kaylie Van Loo capped a stellar regular season by landing on the All-West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Second Team, which was announced on Tuesday. Van Loo leads the Pilots in scoring, and ranks second in the WCC in both assists and minutes played.
Â
This is the second conference honor for Van Loo, as she earned All-WCC Honorable Mention as a junior. A native of nearby Hillsboro, Ore., Van Loo is scoring 11.9 points per game overall, while putting up 14.9 points per contest against conference foes, which ranks ninth in the WCC. She's also averaging 5.1 assists and 37.2 minutes, and her per game mark of 2.1 steals ranks third in the league.
Â
Van Loo poured in a career-high 26 points at Pacific (Feb. 16), which came during a three-game stretch of scoring 20 points or more. She's handed out a career-best nine assists three times, she nearly set a program record with eight steals against Santa Clara (Jan. 5), and she's made 10 free throws in a game on three occasions. She also recently nabbed a spot on the WCC's All-Academic Team for the second straight year.
Â
Van Loo in the Pilots next head to Las Vegas, Nev., for the WCC Championships at the Orleans Arena. Portland begins its stay in Vegas with a first-round match-up against the San Diego Toreros on Thursday at approximately 2:00 p.m.
