MISSOULA, Mont. – The Portland women's tennis team cruised to a 5-2 victory over Montana Friday afternoon at the Peak Racquet Club. The Pilots improve to 2-6 overall, while the Griz drop to 5-6.

Portland secured the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Radina Dimitrova and Emily Soares teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 3 and then freshmen Raphaelle Leblanc and Lourdes Ramalle clinched with a 7-5 win at No. 2 in their doubles debut together. Sophomores Anna Oberg and Jelena Lukic won in a tiebreaker at No. 1.

The momentum carried into singles as the top four singles players took the court in the first wave. Ramalle raced to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Lidia Dukic at No. 4 to double Portland's lead. Lukic defeated Julia Ronney in straight sets at the top of the lineup and then Dimitrova provided the clinching point with a three-set comeback win at No. 2 over Cam Kincaid.

Sophomore Emily Soares recorded Portland's final point with a straight set win against Catherine Orfanos at No. 5 singles.

Nathalie Joanlanne picked up the first point for the Griz with her sixth consecutive dual victory in straight sets against Pilot freshman Raphaelle Leblanc at No. 3 singles. Bianca Bostrom then outlasted sophomore Anna Oberg in a third set tiebreaker for Montana's second point.

Portland will return to the Peak Racquet Club tomorrow to take on the Montana State Bobcats at 10 a.m. (PT).
