NEW ORLEANS, N.M. --- The Portland men's cross country team is ranked No. 3 in the first USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll of the year, while the Portland women sit just out of the top-30, receiving votes at No. 31. In the regional polls, the men rank No.1 in the West and the women No. 7.
 
"The men have had a great summer and we are excited to see what we can accomplish this year," said men's head coach Rob Conner.
 
The Pilots return five of the seven runners that competed at the 2017 XC Championship meet, where Portland clinched the runner up spot coming second to NAU. The Pilots also won the West Region team and individual title in 2017, and Conner was named West Region Coach of the year.
 
The women will return five-time All-American Lauren LaRocco and 1500m All-American Taryn Rawlings this season. Portland also brings in a strong newcomer group including Hungarian and Canadian national champions Virag Weiler and Jasmine Fehr. Camila Noe, who won the NXR NW XC Meet and ranks first in the two-mile among high school girls will also join the Pilots this fall.

LaRocco and men's senior Noah Schutte have also been ranked individually by FloTrack at No.20 and No.22, respectively.
