SALEM, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's cross country teams concluded competition on Saturday morning at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem. The Portland men placed five runners in the top-15 to claim second, while the Portland women finished fifth.

Redshirt sophomore Peter Allegre was the top finisher for the Pilots, crossing the line third in 24:12.2 for a new personal record. Redshirt juniors Devin Wulff and Cobie Chavez-Killinger rounded out the top-10 with an eighth (24:44.4) and ninth place (24:46.0) finish, respectively. Wulff also recorded a new personal best, while redshirt freshman Evert Silva and Said Guermali claimed the fourth and fifth point scoring spots for Portland with a 12
th and 14
th place finish. Both Pilots also recorded new personal records of 24:50.4 and 24:53.8, respectively. A total of eight Portland men recorded new 8k personal records.

On the women's side, junior Maddy Lyons was the top finisher for Portland, claiming 19
th place in 17:46.4, for a new 5k personal record. Redshirt sophomore Lacey Conner was the next Pilot to cross the finish line in 23
rd place, with a new personal record as well (17:53.3). Junior Natalie Smith (18:08.6) and redshirt freshman Katelyn Schultz (18:09.0) rounded out the top-30 in 29
th and 30
th place, respectively. A total of seven Portland women produced new personal records in the 5k.

"Maddy Lyons had a great race and really looked strong," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "I was also impressed by Lacey Conner, who ran much better than a week ago. Many of our younger runners continue to make progress and are getting better by the week."

The Pilots will next be in action at the Warner Pacific XC Invite and NCAA PreNationals on Oct. 13.
