VANCOUVER, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team capped play at the Pacific Northwest Invitational on Sunday, falling to the University of Oregon 1-4 at the Frenchman's Bar Regional Park in Vancouver, Wash.
The loss brings the Pilots to 0-3 on the young season, falling to two strong Pac-12 teams in the Ducks and the Washington Huskies, along with an impressive Boise State squad.
Freshman's Sarah Strong and Jessie Brigham, both newcomers to The Bluff, won their first pair duals as 3's. Strong is the first Beach Volleyball-only in Pilot's history, while Brigham recently transferred after a successful indoor campaign with Boise State.
5's pair sophomore's Liz Reich and Kellie Hughes forced a third set in their duals match, coming back from losing the first set. Despite losing in the end, each set had a point differential of two points.
The Pilots will have till the end of March before seeing any action, as Portland will travel to the Santa Cruz WCC Mid-Season Invitational from March 29
