PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team begins their 2019 season this weekend at the Pacific Northwest Invitational in Vancouver, Wash. The two-day tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park and will also feature Oregon, Washington, and Boise State.
Â
"The girls have been working hard leading up to our first weekend of competition," said Portland beach head coach Dylan Hamilton. "We are excited to get our feet in the sand against some tough, experienced opponents."
Â
The Pilots will first take on Washington, on Saturday at 10 a.m., before facing Boise State at 2:00 p.m. later that day. The Huskies, who received votes in the March 4th AVCA poll despite a rough start to 2019, went 0-3 against three ranked opponents last weekend. The Broncos are 2-1 to begin their season.
Â
Portland will wrap-up the weekend against the Ducks, who recently fell to 0-3 after a tough weekend of Pac-12 action.
