LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Portland dropped a 5-0 decision to the Loyola Marymount Lions at the LMU Tennis Center Friday afternoon. The Pilots fall to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in West Coast Conference play, while the Lions improve to 7-5 and 2-2 in league.
The Lions opened the scoring by taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the point. Portland's No. 1 doubles team of juniors Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg were tied 4-4 when the point was clinched.
LMU won in straight sets at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions. Lukic was up a set at No. 1 singles and freshman Angela Schuster was closing in on a straight sets win, leading 6-1, 5-2 at No. 6 singles when the match finished.
Portland will continue its road trip with a tough match at No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
