PORTLAND, Ore. --- Josh Lagudah, who is the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, has committed to the Portland Pilots men's soccer program, announced head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt. Lagudah, who originally hails from Canberra, Australia, comes to The Bluff as a senior and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Â
"Josh is an important addition to our program," said Carlin-Voigt. "He brings proven college experience and will add quality and competition to the position. Josh is an athletic shot stopper with good feet who can start the attack from the back. Josh has lots of experience and should adapt quickly to our culture as he is coming off a successful season at a very good Loyola program. With the recent loss of an incoming talented goalkeeper to the professional ranks, it was important we added a talented leader who is ready to contribute to our rich history of goalkeepers at Portland. Josh wanted to be at Portland as much as we wanted to add him to the program speaks to his commitment."
Â
In his one year at Loyola University Chicago, Lagudah was one of the top keepers in the nation. In addition to being the league's goalkeeper of the year, Lagudah also landed on the All-MVC First Team. He compiled nine shutouts, claimed a goals against average of 0.66, and boasted a save percentage of .780. During one stretch with the Ramblers, Lagudah recorded five straight shutouts, going nearly 500 minutes without allowing a goal.
Â
Prior to his stint at Loyola, Lagudah played on the club level for Moreton Bay United FC of the Australian National Premier League.
