SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at No. 23 Washington on Friday evening at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies improve to 6-2 with the win, while the Pilots move to 1-2.
Washington claimed the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. Portland senior Emily Soares and junior Laura Okazaki were leading 4-3 at No. 3 doubles when the point was clinched.
The Huskies raced to straight set wins at No. 2, No. 5 and then No. 1 singles to clinch the overall result.
Pilot sophomore Angela Schuster made her spring debut at No. 6 singles and battled to a 6-4, 6-4 defeat against Ashley Chang. Soares also had a strong performance at No. 3 singles, but fell to Katarina Kopcalic 7-5, 6-4.
Portland will next take the court on Friday, Feb. 14 hosting Portland State at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center at 11 a.m. All Pilot home matches will have live video and scoring available at PortlandPilots.com.
