PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland women's tennis has signed highly-rated recruit Meagan Pearson (Kirkland, Wash./Tesla STEM HS) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Filip Zivkovic announced on Thursday.
She has been ranked as high as No. 19 nationally in Tennis RPI, No. 39 according to the USTA Rankings and a TennisRecruiting.net high of No. 66. Pearson is also currently rated as the No. 2 prospect in the Pacific Northwest for her age.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Meagan join us on The Bluff," Zivkovic said. "She is a solid five-star recruit who has had a stellar junior career and will make an immediate impact on the court. Meagan encompasses everything we value at Pilot Athletics: she is a top-level athlete, excellent student and a great person. Meagan will be a great University of Portland representative on the court, in the classroom and within community."
"I am beyond excited to join the University of Portland," Pearson said. "I know I will be a part of a team and with a coach that is driven and will help me grow both on and off the court."
Pearson will join a Portland team with just two seniors on the current roster. The Pilots have had a solid fall season under Zivkovic's tutelage highlighted by Iva Zelic
winning the Gonzaga Invitational singles title last week. The team concludes its fall campaign this weekend at the CSUN Matador Invitational.
