PORTLAND, Ore. – The West Coast Conference announced a mandatory men's basketball schedule change between the University of Portland and Pepperdine University on Thursday. The teams are now required to meet this Saturday at the Chiles Center with a 4 p.m. tip-off. The Waves were previously scheduled to visit the Pilots on Thursday, Feb. 18.
Portland is still scheduled to host BYU today at 4 p.m., while Pepperdine is not scheduled to play another game this week. The Pilots and Waves already met this year with Pepperdine taking an 80-65 victory in Malibu on Jan. 16.
"We worked with the Conference Office to attempt to keep the game on its original date out of respect to our student-athletes and department staff," said Portland Vice President for Athletics, Scott Leykam. "We were ultimately required to make the last-minute change."
This marks the sixth change to the Portland men's basketball WCC schedule this season and third in the last week as games against Saint Mary's and Santa Clara were postponed last week due to COVID-related issues within those programs.
