SALEM, Ore.---The Pilots beach volleyball team began competition in a pairs tournament hosted at Corban University on Saturday, also facing opponents from both Washington and Boise State at the event. Each Portland pair played in two pool play matches to open day one of the weekend tournament.

A pair of Broncos overcame Maluhia Hirahara and Krysten Bugarin in their first match, but the 3s pair was able to force three sets in their second game against Corban, although the Warriors came out on top.
