PORTLAND, Ore.---The Portland Pilots 17th-ranked men's cross country team and 20th-ranked women's cross country team are both set to compete in the 2020 NCAA Championships tomorrow morning, Monday, Mar. 15, at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. The women's 6K championship race is set to begin at 9:50 a.m., with the men's 10K race to follow at 10:40 a.m.

For each of the two races, the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee selected
31 teams and 38 individual qualifiers to compete for the national championship.

Portland has a team of seven runners competing on the men's side, as well as a team of seven from the women's program racing at the event.

The Pilots men's cross country team has accumulated ten top-10 finishes at the national meet, including 10th last year at the 2019 NCAA Championships, led by All-American Caleb Webb's 31st place finish. Portland finished third overall at the 2018 national meet, and were the runners-up back in 2017.

The Portland men most recently finished in third place as a team at the West Coast Conference Championships, led by All-WCC First Team honoree Evert Silva's sixth-place finish. Jacob Klemz, Zak Kirk, and Stan Niesten also landed on the All-WCC Second Team following their performances at the conference meet.

The Portland women will be making their first team appearance at the NCAA Championships since 2018, when Lauren LaRocco and Taryn Rawlings led Portland to a program-best 12th-place team finish in Madison, Wisc.

Anna Pataki will be competing at the national race for the second year in a row, after tying the program's 10th-best finish with her 57th-place performance last year as an individual at-large bid.

The Pilot women are coming off of a runner-up finish in the team scores at the West Coast Conference Championships, led by individual champion and All-WCC First Team honoree Anna Pataki. Victoria Weir and Stella Gillman also landed on the All-WCC First Team with their sixth and seventh spot placements at the conference meet. The team finished only behind No. 2 BYU.
