PORTLAND, Ore.---The Pilots beach volleyball team is headed to Alki Beach in Seattle for a weekend of competition at the Husky Invitational, which includes pool play match-ups with Washington, No. 15 Hawai'i, and Oregon set for Friday, with knockout rounds continuing on Saturday.
Â
Live stats and live video will not be available for any of the matches on either day.
Â
Portland will play at three different times on Friday, first facing off with Washington at 11:00am, before seeing 15th-ranked Hawai'i at 2:45pm, and closing out pool play action against Oregon at 4:00pm.
Â
The Pilots enter the weekend at 1-1 overall, most recently claiming a 3-2 dual match win against the Corban Warriors just earlier this week on Tuesday. Previously that same day, Oregon was able to hold off Portland by a 4-1 score.
Â
The Pilots pair of Shayla Hoeft and Alycia Wodke recorded sweeps in both of their matches against the Ducks and the Warriors, and remain the only undefeated Portland team in dual play this year. The partnerships of Noelani Helm and Jayde Harris, and Kellie Hughes and Kendall Nolan also claimed wins against Corban on the day.
Â
Washington comes in with a 1-7 overall record, losing close 3-2 decisions to other ranked opponents in California and Arizona State. At the top of the Husky lineup is Shayne McPerhson and Chole Loreen, who are 5-3 in dual competition this spring.
Â
15th-ranked Hawaii maintains an 8-7 record, with eight of those matches coming against No. 6 Cal Poly and No. 18 Long Beach State. The Rainbow Wahine have split four matches with LBSU, all finishing in 3-2 results.
Â
The Ducks are 4-6 this season, with three of those dual wins also coming against Corban earlier this year.
"We are excited to head up to Seattle to compete against our toughest competition yet," said head coach Dylan Hamilton. "We've been working hard over the last few weeks, and are excited to see how we stack up against some great teams."
Following the completion of this weekend's tournament, the Pilots will remain in-state for another contest with Oregon, set for Wednesday, April 21 in Eugene. Match start times are still TBA.
