LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Portland women's tennis team opened the 2022 campaign Friday in the opening round of the Beach Tennis Winter Invite at the Rhodes Tennis Center. Sophomore Rimona Rouf won both her singles and doubles matches and the Pilots took three of four doubles matches and Boise State.

Junior Jana Tanevska joined Rouf in claiming singles victories against opponents from CSUN and Boise State, respectively, late in the afternoon.

The Pilots won 6-4 at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 positions in doubles, while Rouf outlasted Victoria Santibanez Luna 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Tanevska cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Corey Patton Lossner. Freshman Aleksandra Dimitrijevic and senior Marija Elenova also pushed their opponents to three sets before falling in singles.

Portland will continue action Saturday against CSUN in doubles and host Long Beach State in singles and the tournament concludes Sunday with UP facing the host 49ers in doubles and Boise State in singles.
