ESTACADA, Ore. --The Pilot men's cross country team cruised to a team win with just 31 points at the Lewis & Clark XC Invite on Saturday morning, led by Daniel Racle's second-place individual finish in the 8K race. Racle crossed the line in a time of 24:16.4. Women finish ninth overall.
The Pilots ran two strategies throughout the race. One group decided to push hard from the front of the race, forcing their competition to run hard if they wanted to remain competitive. The other group decided to work their way up from the middle of the pack throughout the race. Their efforts led to a dominant team win, having only accumulated 31 points total.
Henry Mong clocked in next for the Pilots with a time of 24:30.8 to secure fifth-place overall. Mong was followed by Leo Donlea in seventh (24:36.8), Chris Anderson in 14th (24:51.6) and Brady Martisus to round out the scoring five finishing in 21st-place (25:00.8). Other Pilots that competed were Cohen Williams in 25th (25:09.9), AJ Reyes in 30th (25:11.5), Justin Hazell in 35th (25:22.6), Eliason Kabasenche in 48th (25:40.1), Kevin Andrews in 54th (25:47.1), Nico Grillo in 101th (26:44.2) and Kai Vickers in 119th (27:02.8).
The women notched several PRs on the day, with nearly every runner running a personal best. The women competed well through the race, moving up throughout in an effort to pick off other racers throughout. The women would ultimately finish ninth overall with 263 points being led by Lauren Block who finished 27th overall in a time of 22:48.1.
Block was followed by Tait Vigeland in 40th (23:05.7), Tait Rowley in 63th (23:33.4), Alexa Hague in 97th (24:24.3), and Tiahna Woodger in 100th (24:33.5) to round out the Pilot scorers. Tait Vigeland, Tait Rowley and Tiahna Woodger all ran personal records for the Pilots.
