Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. – Freshman Alaia Rubio Perez won both of her singles matches, while Rimona Rouf and Meagan Pearson also picked up singles wins to highlight Portland's effort at the Husky Invitational this weekend.
Rubio Perez defeated Oregon's Madisen Olsen 6-4, 6-2 on Friday and then knocked off highly-rated freshman Erika Matsuda of Washington on Sunday by a 6-1, 6-4 margin. Rubio Perez improves to 4-1 this fall in singles action.
Rouf came back to defeat DePaul's Greta Carbone on Saturday 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 and Pearson also knocked off Olsen in straight sets on Saturday.
Rouf and Pearson also teamed up for a doubles victory against Ashley Chang and Yolanda Lin of Washington.
The Pilots will return to the court next weekend for the ITA Northwest Regionals hosted at Stanford. Matches begin on Friday, Oct. 14 and run through Tuesday, Oct. 18.
