TACOMA, Wash.---The Portland 3s pair of Charity Bradley and Taylor Helle registered a sweep against Washington's Emma Calle and Hannah Yerex in the second match of Saturday's beach volleyball double header, but the receiving-votes Huskies were able to outlast the Pilots 5-0 and 4-1 in both programs' season-opening matches at DaKine Sports Center.
 
The Pilots 2s of Sophie Lee and Sarah Strong rallied to force a third set against UW's Scarlett Dahl and Kyra Peterson in game one, but the Huskies duo eventually prevailed with set scores of 21-18, 12-21, and 15-10.
 
"We did a great job as competitors and teammates in two tough matches against UW today," said Portland coach Dylan Hamilton. "We're excited to get back on the sand and get back to work this week!"
 
The Pilots return to action next week on Thursday, March 3, in a matchup with the Corban Warriors, set to begin at 1 p.m.
