SALEM, Ore.---The Pilots finished 1-1 in a pair of beach volleyball matches on Wednesday, beating Bushnell for the third time this season after the NAIA's eighth-ranked Corban Warriors came out on top 4-1 in the day's first dual.
 
Portland's 4s pair of Sophie Lee and Taylor Helle came back from a first set deficit in match one to defeat Corban's Kianna Keeling and Cameron Keeling 19-21, 21-17, and 15-12.
 
Lia Hawken and Tayln Jackson started out match two against Bushnell with a sweep at the 5s flight, taking the contest with set scores of 21-14 and 21-11.
 
The Pilots 1s of Sarah Strong and Noelani Helm earned a win against the Beacons' duo of Makenna Northern and Shay Coons with a score line of 19-21, 21-16, and 15-8, before Grace Zilbert and Charity Bradley secured the team win for Portland with a sweep at the 2s.
 
Sophie Lee and Taylor Helle completed the Pilots' final sweep of the day at the 4s line, overcoming their Bushnell opposition with set scores of 21-11 and 21-10.
 
"After a quick turnaround from the WCC mid-season tournament, we did a fantastic job of fighting fatigue and staying together as a team," said Portland coach Dylan Hamilton. "We competed well with a strong Corban team, and bounced back for a strong win against Bushnell. We are excited to continue to make upgrades going into a long stretch of practices."
 
The Pilots head north next, traveling to Seattle for matches hosted by the receiving-votes Washington Huskies on April 16-17.
