SEATTLE, Wash.---Noelani Helm and Taylor Helle claimed a three-set thriller against a pair of Bows at Alki Beach on Sunday—marking the first time in Pilots beach volleyball history that a Portland pair has secured a flight win over a ranked opponent—but No. 8 Hawai'i would claim a 4-1 team win in the semifinal match of the Husky Invitational. Oregon overcame Portland 5-0 in the day's second dual.
 
Sophie Lee and Sarah Strong forced a final frame on UH at the 3s, but the Rainbow Wahine eventually took the flight win with set scores of 21-11, 19-21 and 15-7.
 
"In our longest tournament of the weekend I thought we showed tremendous grit and resilience competing for the second time with #8 Hawaii and Oregon," said Portland coach Dylan Hamilton. "We are looking forward to another few days of practice before Senior Day down in Eugene."
 
The Pilots are set for a final matchup with Oregon on Thursday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m., and will honor seniors Sarah Strong and Kendall Nolan in their final local appearances for the program.
