"National ranking is great recognition for Iva and for our program to start the year," Portland head coach Filip Zivkovic said. "The best part about college tennis is that every year is a fresh new beginning and these rankings will look much different by the end of the fall season. Iva has done a lot of great work over the summer and I believe that she is ready to take advantage of the opportunities this fall and showcase her development."
Portland's first scheduled fall event is the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sept. 16-18. Zelic will also await the announcement of the field for the ITA All-American Championships this week which is scheduled for Oct. 1-9 in Cary, N.C.
